Key responsibilities:

• Becoming a specialist in the field of client assets regulation.
• Leading CASS Policy projects, including developing policy, drafting policy documents, engaging with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring that internal governance procedures are adhered to.
• Mentoring more junior and less experienced members of staff and disseminating CASS knowledge.
• Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders; influencing stakeholders.
• Analysing complex business models and issues.
• Accompanied by senior team members, representing the department and the firm externally at industry meetings and presentations.
• Applying and continually enhancing your acquired knowledge.

Key requirements:

• Excellent written language skills
• Experience of policy making
• Experience of leading projects
• Knowledge of the UK and European financial services regulatory framework you will need to demonstrate an excellent understanding of this and have practical experience of working in this field.
• Excellent communication skills you will need to communicate complex subjects clearly and confidently both orally and in writing.
• Excellent analytical skills you will need to analyse complex regulations and business models and review information to identify risks to client assets.
• Leadership skills you will need: to engage and operate confidently within a network of regulatory specialists, firms and other industry stakeholders; present policies and policy justification to senior management and committees; influence stakeholders and be robust under challenge; develop junior and less experienced staff; drive work through to completion; and demonstrate professional excellence at all times.
• Knowledge of the UK and European financial services regulatory framework you will need to demonstrate an excellent understanding of this and have practical experience of working in this field.
• Strong prioritisation and time management skills you will need to be able to juggle a number of competing pieces of work at once, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Excellent team working skills the nature of the CASS Policy Team's work and the department's work is collaborative.

Desirable

• Relevant knowledge and practical experience of UK client asset regulation
• Knowledge and/or experience of firms who hold client assets e.g. custody banks, clearing brokers or investment firms
• Legal, accounting or internal audit background
