The Department The IT Department is responsible for the delivery of all aspects of the Firm's Information Technology systems and Global services, including all phases of system design, build implementation and operation to meet the needs of the firm.

The Team

This role sits in the Legal Business Applications team which comprises of three areas; Web, DMS and Legal Apps support. The team is responsible for the management of the related technologies, systems and services globally, including roadmaps, design, implementation and support.

The Role

We are looking to recruit a new member into our team to be accountable for implementing Clyde & Co's Web strategy, solutions architecture, standards and roadmaps. This role also includes providing 4th line support and working closely with the internal and external stakeholders.

Principal Accountabilities

Being accountable for ensuring there is an up-to-date view of required/future IT upgrades, to ensure that applications continue to meet business needs, and that they remain supportable. Additionally, the role holder must ensure that the supporting business case is sufficiently robust to secure funding for the required changes.
Creating and updating documents, including run books, support guides and alongside the Architects, roadmap & where necessary
Communication of issues and updates to other teams and management

Main Responsibilities

Providing a single point of technical leadership on projects and support issues that have been escalated.
Formulates ideas on configuration, customisation and best practices re: the use of all web services and webbased applications (e.g. security and reporting tools).
Demonstrates a solid understanding of the OS used to support the various web-based platforms and relevant HA and BCP technologies.
Partner with the various technical teams in the UK and international sites to develop and implement solutions
Provides a single point of technical leadership on projects, including those which are business-funded and Error! Unknown document property name. service improvements
Oversees the transition of applications and services to 3rd-line support teams, in order to ensure that those services are effectively delivered, understood and successfully supported, thus fulfilling business needs;
Provides 4th-line support , as required, in the resolution of complex incidents and problems;
Works with the Legal Applications Support team leader, proactively contributing to platform/application service roadmaps;
Provides clear technical leadership for all matters relating to the Web, supplying subject-matter expertise to Design Authorities and the Architecture Review Board (ARB), as required, in the development of architecture(s) and standards;
Understands the upgrade and maintenance work required to ensure stable performance and supportable operation.
Maintain a broad understanding of the commercial IT environment, how the organisation sources, deploys and manages external partners. Managing the relationship with external vendors and there contracts and statements of works.

Budgetary Responsibilities

Obtain costings for licenses, renewals & support & maintenance with vendors
Submit detailed application proposals for consideration along with potential expenditure


Prince 2 (advantageous)

Candidate Specification

Understand legal practices and in particular how Knowledge and Litigation teams operate
Pragmatic thinker who can effectively work in project teams delivering global solutions
Be comfortable liaising with third party vendors where necessary
Experience in working closely with suppliers
Excellent communicator with strong documentation
Analytical and logical approach to problem solving
