Outstanding Teaching Assistant Needed for a great Special Needs School in Surrey!

A specialist, non-maintained, school providing day and residential places for students (5-19) is looking for Support Staff to join them as soon as possible on a full time and permanent basis. The school cater to children and young adults, whose special educational needs include autistic spectrum disorders, complex learning difficulties, language and communication disorders and associated challenging behaviour.

Would you welcome the challenge of working with learners in both group and individual situations, helping and encouraging them to develop their self help and learning skills?

Hours of work: 8.30am - 4.20pm Monday to Thursday and 8:30am - 3:45pm on Friday term time only (36 hours/week) during term time only (plus In-Service training days).

Own transport (or at least non-reliance solely on public transport) essential due to location of the School.

The role of the Teaching Assistant is much valued within the School. Assistants relieve the pressure on the teaching staff, ensure through the quality of their work and their ability to interact with children that the learning experiences of the learners of the school are enhanced. Their role allows them to have a unique insight into learner's needs and development.

What you will need:

- Good general education up to at least GCSE or equivalent
- School environment experience
- Have experience of learners with ASD or special school setting
- Good general ICT skills - ability to use email and other forms of electronic communication
- Good organizational, communication and listening skills
- Have the ability to work as a member of a team to help provide a happy, stimulating environment where learners enjoy their learning
- Organising and prioritising work
- Working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines
- Good oral and written communication
- Confident and self motivated
- Good interpersonal and negotiation skills
- Attention to detail
- Maintain a positive and flexible attitude
- Able to work on own initiative
- Be organised and work to deadlines
