A top tier Investment Bank based in Central London is currently looking for a Big Data Developer with knowledge of Java/Scala, NoSQL type databases and ideally Hadoop. You would join a new team that is currently being set up in order to tap into large data sets within the business, leveraging the insights for the purposes of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Your remit will be broad, focused on driving efficiencies across operations and technology, with no limits to the systems you touch or any ideas you may have. Thus, the role would see you spending a lot of team within R&D, working closely with the end users internally to understand the pinch points across the business and collaborating closely with a team of Data Scientists.

Performance within the role would be measured by finding creative ways to apply AI to laborious tasks or even finding revenue generating use cases within sales and trading. The wider team you would slot into has been established within the business for a long time, but this specific Big Data function is a new focus and will be built along side. This would give you the opportunity to learn about the business' challenges from the wider team before starting with your own projects and would help with your transition into the role.
