Role: Technology Command Chief Applications Architect - based in London

Contract role: 12 Months

SC Clearance: Contractors will need to be taken through SC enhanced clearance

We have a requirement for a contractor to act as Technology Command Chief Applications Architect on a contingent labour basis to work in London for an estimated period of 12 months.

Essential

- Ability to matrix manage staff in support of CIO programmes and projects.
- Ability to lead a civilian/police/contractor multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to direct and manage systems engineering activities across a range of application technologies and environments.
- Successful track record in systems engineering at an enterprise level.
- Experience with systems engineering within an Police, Government, MOD or SIA environment would be an advantage.

Set policies, standards and guidelines for application technologies and systems.

Develop and maintain an applications strategy, plan and approach.

With the Deputy Director for Systems Engineering and Architecture and Chief Architects, develop and maintain an enterprise architecture

Put in place the people, process, information, technology and facilities to support architecture and system design.

Create clear and cohesive application technology roadmaps.

Put in place application design patterns, and individual system designs to meet business needs.

Develop system engineering skills throughout, with a focus on the applications lifecycle.

Lead technology discussions, burden sharing and divisions of effort agreements with national (SIA, Police, HMRC, MOD) and international partners around applications development.

Ensure ment with HMG strategies, policies and standards.

Accountable for the analysis of circa. 250 business applications assessing for Cloud suitability.

Develop application performance dashboards for senior management and board consumption.

Skills Transfer:

- The contractor will be responsible for developing current and target view of the Enterprise Applications Estate, in the absence of a permanent full-time officer on the role.
- At the point a permanent Chief Applications Architect is appointed a formal handover will be completed with comprehensive documentation, design sessions, review workshops etc. This is likely to take around 4-6 weeks.
- If the contractor exits prior to a permanent Chief Applications Architect being appointed, a handover will be completed to the post (currently Chief Data Architect and Chief Infrastructure and Security Architect).
- The existing Chief Architects will also act as an assurance mechanism for the contractor through regular design reviews (utilising EASE), project reviews and design authority meetings.
