The UK institutional marketplace is of strategic importance to SSGA globally and our London office is the headquarters of our Europe, Middle East and Africa business. Ensuring we have excellent relationships with global and local investment consultants located in the UK is a key priority for us.

Based in London the UK Consultant Relations Team is responsible for developing and leading our relationships with global and local investment consultancy firms. Reporting to the UK Head of Consultant Relations, you will join a team of self-starters who are integral to our client management and development activities. You will understand the dynamics and needs of the investment consultancy community and ensure that SSGA's reputation as a premier investment manager in the UK institutional marketplace is reinforced and improved.

You will be responsible for handling our relationship with a portfolio of domestic UK investment consulting firms, with a focus on building our relationship with field consultants.


  • Building great relationships with consultants across the UK with a view to raising the profile of SSGA.

  • Energetically pursuing positive product ratings for the firms you cover and instilling confidence among your consultants to recommend our products to their clients.

  • Co-ordinating consultant questionnaire responses and liaising with the consultant database team to ensure we are representing our capabilities in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Furthering a strong network of relationships with appropriate executive, research and key field consultants

  • Authoritatively profiling our investment capabilities, research depth and products to consultants

  • Providing consultant feedback to internal partners on the suitability and appeal of products.

  • Working within a strong compliance and risk management culture


  • Good relationships with UK consultants, working either within an asset management or an investment consultancy firm.

  • Ability to form relationships with both internal partners and external consultants.

  • Reciprocal work approach with marketing, client-facing, RFP, investment and compliance teams.

  • Motivated to resolve problems.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to run multiple tasks at a time.

  • Ability to work independently and efficiently on consultant servicing, tasks and projects

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentational skills

  • Strong academic background. Degree and relevant professional qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge of portfolio management theory, asset classes and the challenges of UK DC and DB pension schemes.

  • Happy working at all levels of seniority, both within the SSGA organisation and with senior management at consultancy firms.

  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities to meet internal and external deadlines.

  • Willing to assume responsibility and take ownership of tasks assigned
