Lead Web Developer
We're looking for a commercially aware individual who's confident leading a technical team in front and back end web development to join us as Lead Web Developer , and play a key role in shaping our digital strategy. Shelter's Online team operates as a full service digital partner for the whole organisation. We also develop and implement digital strategy, and make sure best practice is applied to all online activities. We work with closely with an in-house creative team, and together support activities that span Fundraising, Campaigning, Services, Digital Advice and Trading. Design and UX, front and back end development, content production, social media, search and analytics - we cover them all. Your key responsibilities: • Taking the lead in scoping, architecting and implementing the technical elements of our digital strategy, including major development projects and a planned digital innovation programme • In collaboration with the Head of Digital, advising Shelter's senior management team on investment in, and the adoption of, new digital platforms and technologies in line with our strategies • Making sure we are up-to-date with - and able to take advantage of - the latest development in digital technology, and make the most effective and efficient use of our in-house digital resources • Leading the development team and planning, sourcing and managing freelance resources as required And what you'll need: • A strong track record in scoping, architecting and delivering effective, enterprise-level technical solutions to a range of organisational and user-led challenges and objectives • A proven knowledge of the principles of user-centred design, and the ability to mentor, train and motivate a technical team and ensure their knowledge and skills are relevant and up-to-date • Advanced knowledge of PHP/MySQL, MVC frameworks • Experience of working with REST APIs and Firebase or other cloud JSON store • Knowledge of CI Platforms and cloud hosting environments (e.g. Azure, AWS and Elastic Beanstalk).
