THE ROLE

We have a great opportunity for a paralegal with previous construction experience to join our thriving and growing construction team that sits within our Real Estate department. This is a fast-paced role that will give you real scope, quality work and the chance to develop and grow your expertise. You will work and provide support on both contentious and non-contentious construction matters.

PRINCIPAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Tasks to include gathering information and providing support in respect of : -

dealing with JCT contracts, professional appointments and collateral warranties
Strong exposure to both contentious and non-contentious work
working for developers, project funders and other stakeholders in respect of commercial and residential development schemes
The candidate will have good communication skills and will be working in a team alongside junior and senior colleagues.
Contributing to the effectiveness of team work flow, including attending departmental and other appropriate briefings to assess current and future needs
Filing and file-keeping
Related administrative tasks

TECHNICAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

Some real interest - and ideally experience/knowledge - of the construction industry would be very much preferred
Experience in handling London developer work
Excellent skills in Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Filesite and E-Filing
Excellent time management and organisational skills to enable efficient co-ordination of work
Must demonstrate excellent literacy, spelling and grammar
Professional telephone manner and the ability to communicate with clients and other business contacts in a helpful and efficient manner, responding to client queries where appropriate

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well within a team - bright, willing, enthusiastic and personable
Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels - it involves meeting and liaising with clients as well as attending some events

Must be able to interpret instructions correctly and act upon them. Must also be comfortable, and have sound judgement, regarding using own initiative and taking responsibility where necessary and appropriate
Excellent organisational skills and ability to perform in a fast paced deadline-orientated role
Good attention to detail, with a high standard of spelling and grammar
Must be discreet and have a sound understanding of client confidentiality
Positive attitude with high level of personal motivation
