Solution Architect Key responsibilities - Technical leadership of a project within the Digital Services at the Border programme - Implements the end to end software architecture, and liaises with the Solution Architect to ensure consistency. - Owns the software design, technical governance and product choice - Represent the projects at the technical design authority. - Ensure the design address all hosting, security and NFR requirements. - Ensure the system is able to gain security accreditation. - Oversee the integration of the output from the development teams for to production quality and the support of the live system. - Hands on system development and support - Mentoring, coaching and guidance for teams. - Liaising with senior stakeholders to give appropriate updates on progress and issues. Required skills The following software development skills are required: In depth knowledge of the entire solution landscape, as described below. - Java 8, Microservices architecture, REST - Spring Boot, Spring Data, Apache Camel - Containerisation, specifically Docker - Defining and implementing build pipelines using Jenkins, and deployment processes - TDD and BDD (specifically Cucumber) - GitHub / GitLab, use of branching and merging strategies - Clean code - Linux Desirable skills Exposure to the following techniques, tools and platforms are desirable: - Cloud hosting, specifically AWS (EC2, S3, RDS) - Containerisation orchestration, specifically Kubernetes - Infosphere Big Match for Hadoop - Hadoop - HBase - MapReduce - IntelliJ
