Fundraising and Office Assistant

GBP20,000 per annum

Based in London, SW8

Do you have excellent communication skills, experience of providing admin support and an interest in developing a career in charity fundraising?

We are recruiting a Fundraising and Office Assistant to support the day-to-day running of charity's fundraising and office activity. You will need to be motivated, proactive and able to think outside the box in unplanned situations. You will need a flexible approach in order to manage a range of tasks, working with colleagues across the fundraising team as well as providing support to our senior leadership team and Office Manager.

You will have a range of regular duties, including answering phones, supporting meetings, diary management and recruitment administration. However, the priority will be providing vital support for our fundraising events and activities, including our annual fun run, gala dinners, challenge events and fundraising campaigns. This will include responding to enquiries and bookings, maintaining guest lists, researching and requesting donations, and providing onsite support with event logistics. Some work will be required out of usual office hours, to support our evening and weekend events.

One person in six in the UK has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills can't succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood of literacy failure by the age of five.

We are a national charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy. We run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools. Our mission is to give young people the literacy skills they need to get a job and lead a successful life.

As well as a competitive salary, we offer benefits including a generous annual leave allowance of 28 days (plus bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and new year), and pensions contributions of 8% of annual salary.
