Global Projects Group SWAT:
The Operations Global Projects Group (GPG) SWAT team is a central function that is called upon to lead special initiatives to solve core operational issues (both known and new) and design strategic solutions with an Operations-wide global impact.
Description of Role
To lead special initiatives prioritized by Operations senior management for solving core operational issues and designing strategic solutions with an Operations-wide global impact. The role requires a strong foundation in Operations process knowledge and skills in management consulting, process, data & business analysis and project management. It is a highly visible role and will require engagement with a very broad set of stakeholders at all levels of management and across the spectrum of products, functions, divisions and firm business segments including Institutional, Wealth and Investment Management. Significant experience in the financial industry is required. Must understand concepts of trade lifecycle, and middle & back office functions across various asset classes. Deep Operations experience and subject matter expertise are a definite plus.
Analysis (Problem Solving)
Perform in-depth process, business and data analysis
Identify root-cause issues and adequately substantiate with supporting statistics/metrics
Gather market/industry intelligence to inform the solution scenarios
Facilitate build vs. buy vs. outsource type scenario analysis
Clearly understand and articulate the strategic intent and key goals of the special initiative
Establish and gain consensus on benchmarks for success
Design front-to-back target operating model.
Assess current and future state requirements and obtain required sign-offs
Document future state process flows, incorporating requirements and obtain client validation
Document high-level road map for coordinating the migration to a future state process
Establish necessary governance, workstream structures, key dependencies, RAID logs etc.
Manage work plan development, requirements collection, issues, risks and scope changes throughout all phases of the project
Work with stakeholders to prioritize work and drive milestones to completion
Track and report status on cross-divisional projects being completed by leads across Operations
Strong communication and influencing skills
Strong sense of ownership and accountability
Effectively manage the Program team
Interact with CTB/RTB/COOs/RMs to help define and document objectives, governance and priorities.
Interface with key stakeholders and senior sponsors to confirm program/project sponsorship/support
Ensure strategic alignment, and report progress, achievements, significant issues and risks.
Coordinate globally and ensure full coverage of local/branch requirements.
Engage with senior stakeholders in the region to help manage pipeline and demand.
Identify and engage with the transition target team that will take on further solution execution or BAU as applicable.
We would expect that the likely candidate may have developed the necessary competencies in a similar role over a 10-15 year period - financial industry experience with deep project management and business analysis skills within Operations
A self-starter and highly motivated; ability to work individually and within a team
Can work well with ambiguity by quickly adapting behaviour and work methods to adjust to multiple demands and shifting priorities
Capability to approach problems as challenges and deal with them constructively
Ability to work within tight delivery timeframes
Strong written and verbal presentation skills
Strong analytic and problem solving skills; ability to learn quickly and clarify poorly defined problems
Good working knowledge of financial services and operations
Experience working in or managing multiple projects
Subject matter knowledge of products and/or functions in Middle and Back-office Operations.
Management consulting experience is a definite plus
Understanding of regional regulatory and market standards
