To provide first response to Crohn's and Colitis UK Volunteer Networks across the country, and support the development of volunteering for the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

Working closely together with the other Volunteer Development Officer/s (VDOs), support the development of the Charity's Local Networks and wider volunteer programme

To provide effective support to volunteers, enabling volunteers to engage with the work of the Charity, sharing and following 'best practice' in a consistent manner.

To provide effective support to Crohn's and Colitis UK staff in their work with Networks and other volunteer activities, sharing and following 'best practice' in a consistent manner.

To work with the Volunteer Development Manager and other VDO(s) to recruit, select, induct and provide on-going training to volunteers.

To contribute to the development and delivery of volunteer days/conferences.

To ensure that the Charity's policies are followed and our legal obligations in working with volunteers are met.

To co-ordinate appropriate and timely communication from the Charity to the Networks and other volunteers, ensuring that information flows in a logical and helpful manner.

To regularly contribute to the Charity's initiatives involving volunteers, ensuring that best use of resources is achieved.

To assist at volunteer events and attend internal and external meetings as required, eg supporting volunteering on national initiatives.

Work with colleagues to organise administration and accurate record keeping, enabling effective delivery of the above key responsibilities.

To carry out duties and responsibilities in line with Crohn's and Colitis UK corporate policy and other best practice guidelines. This will involve:

Ensuring personal safety while at work both on and off-site and always helping to ensure the safety of others
Take a flexible approach to work and duties, within an appropriate level of responsibility
Work as a team player and liaise effectively with other colleagues;
Work in line with the Charity values and maintain the reputation and standing of the Charity.
To be prepared to travel to meetings across the UK and be away from home overnight, as the job reasonably demands.
To work weekends and evenings if required.
