The role will involve bookkeeping on behalf of clients, using both Excel and Sage Accounts software. This will include entry of transactions from clients' records to begin with and, as the candidate progresses, will move on to more complex areas of bookkeeping and accounts preparation.
The role will also include exposure, in due course, to assisting with the completion of VAT returns and CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) returns for clients.
Depending upon the aptitude of the candidate, they may be introduced to the processing of payroll for clients.

The company is small and so there will be some cross-over into covering for administrative staff during annual leave or sickness which may include filing and communicating with clients and official bodies, such as HMRC, so confidence in dealing with people face to face and by telephone is essential.
