Business Intelligence Consultant - Power BI Location: Croydon Duration: 3 Months initial Background: Working within the Business Intelligence Programme team to support the implementation of high profile solutions tools and systems; develop solutions on Microsoft platforms, systems and tools. Offer a range of experience of delivering Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing technologies including user interfaces using the Microsoft BI technology stack end to end. A proven ability to develop clear understandings of clients' needs via requirements gathering exercises using appropriate methods and the ability to incorporate them into a technical solution. Close working with the ICT team, architecture practice and system users. Mandatory skills and experience: - Experience of working as a developer within a business intelligence, data and/or analytics team - Demonstrable experience of using Power BI to deliver business intelligence; using Power BI to analyse large volumes of data - Experience in a variety of analytical methods such as comparison, contribution, correlation, frequency, key metric, ranking, variance and trend analysis - Demonstrable experience of data modelling in Power BI - Ability to demonstrate Power BI solutions and train end users in using Power BI - Previous experience working with Local or Central Government - Business Analysis experience (including - definition of requirements using appropriate methods, working with internal client (Service) Areas, conversion of requirements into technical specification for developers) - Experience working with large, disparate data sets - Cloud technologies (Azure in particular) Essential experience of the following specific technologies: - Microsoft SQL Server 2008 - 2016: - Analysis Services (SSAS) - including Tabular model - Relational Database - Integration Services (SSIS) - Reporting Services (SSRS) - Data Mining - Microsoft Power BI, skills in developing reporting solutions in the SQL Business Intelligence stack including, Power BI, Analysis Services Tabular Model, DAX, MDX - Excellent TSQL scripting - Experience of working with existing ETL framework (Using SSIS, Open Query) - Query Performance Tuning - Knowledge of Data Warehousing methodologies - Dimensional Modelling experience - Oracle, Access, Excel experience as source - Master Data Management (desirable) General/non-technical Skills: - Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise workload - Excellent verbal and written communication skills - Can work 'cross-functionally' and with people at all levels within the organisation - Confident communicating with stakeholders - Attention to detail is a must - High levels of commitment and drive.
