Contract Type
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join us as the Executive Assistant to our Global Programmes Director and to support the Global Programmes Division as we change to achieve more for children. You will be a key member of the Global Programmes Directorate with responsibilities that cast wider than your typical Executive Assistant role.

Working in more than 120 countries, we do whatever it takes to create breakthroughs in the way the world treats children. Our Global Programmes division houses four diverse departments: UK Programmes, Programme Partnerships, Programme, Policy and Quality, and our Humanitarian department. The department integrates domestic, emergency, and international development work and consists of over 500 staff.

At Save the Children UK, as we approach our 100th anniversary we are motivated by an unprecedented opportunity to make a difference. Our 2030 strategy has set an ambitious agenda for the whole movement to achieve global breakthroughs in child survival, learning and protection. As part of this we have set ourselves challenging goals for the next 2 years - and to meet them we need to change how we work. As EA to the director of Global Programmes, you will play an integral role in realising this vision and embedding these changes across the division. While this represents the core of your role, you will also play an integral role within the Division Operations team, leading our ongoing internal communications and engagement strategy, and supporting key change initiatives across the division. You role will include:

Effectively planning and managing the use of the director's time
Coordinating the effective functioning of the Global Programmes Management and Senior Leadership teams.
Leading and developing the Global Programmes Internal Communications Strategy
Representing the Global Programmes division on cross organisational groups convened by other initiatives, such as the implementation of new systems.

To achieve this, you will have previous experience within an executive assistant or team coordination position, in developing communications and of working within complex, large organisations. You may have gained this through working in the charity sector or outside it. Proactive, organised and resilient, you will bring the hard and soft skills needed to navigate complex organisations. Motivated by a big picture vision but with rigorous attend to detail, you will also have:

Experience communicating with senior management level leaders
The ability to naturally build and work through personal networks
Initiative to strive for continual improvement
Ability to draft and edit documents, produce accurate minutes of meetings, and compose own documentation competently.

Save the Children UK is a fast past, changing environment and this is a diverse, challenging role. We are looking for individuals keen to make a difference. We will expect you, and support you to build experience and develop your skills as part of the directorate team both to deliver in this role and to enable you to develop your career in the sector.

At Save the Children we are committed to the safeguarding and protection of children in our work. We will do everything possible to ensure that only those who are suitable to work with children are recruited to work for us. This post is subject to a range of vetting checks including a criminal records disclosure.

Our mission is to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives. If you share our mission, are passionate about making it happen and strongly believe you can contribute then join us and we'll give you every opportunity to succeed. We look forward to hearing from you.
