You will support the Senior Research Officer in a number of areas: i) provide support to companies that are working through the WDI survey, providing advice on how to go about answering the questions; ii) support development of the survey methodology and iii) support the research and delivery of topic specific briefings such as wages and productivity, precarious employment relationships, and best practices in supplier relationships. The research will inform both companies and their investors on how better to manage these issues.

Key responsibilities

You will be acting as first point of contact for companies asked to complete the questionnaire
Support the Senior Research Officer in the design and delivery of briefings for investors and companies on labour practices
Support the Senior Research Officer on in-person engagements with companies on the Workforce Disclosure Initiative survey
Support the Senior Research Officer in analysing and publishing a report on the results of the survey
Support the Senior Research Officer on incorporating feedback and revising the survey methodology

Person specification


Understanding of workers' rights and labour standards issues, particularly as they relate to company supply chains
Ability to organise and process large data sets
Ability to carry out individual research tasks and to support the development and delivery of engaging research materials
You will need excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to manage relationships with, and balance the needs of different stakeholders
Strong planning, co-ordination and prioritisation skills and proven capacity to undertake varied tasks simultaneously to tight deadlines
Ability to work independently and on your own initiative
Attention to detail
A basic understanding of the work that ShareAction does and a demonstrable interest in the issues we work on


Understanding of responsible investment or investor engagement

Hours of work: 35 hrs per week with an expectation of some out of hours working
Holidays: 25 days per annum plus working days between Christmas and New Year, plus statutory bank holidays
