A growing and successful food business based in London are looking for a Commercial Planning Analyst. The role requires someone who enjoys working with numbers, planning and analysing stock, reporting, and has the ability to think commercially. This role focuses in on cross category coordination across the brand and understanding and providing the basis for future decisions in the business.

A successful and Dynamic global food retailer who aims to deliver a localised service and fresh food to all its customers. The company has over 12,000 stores in 34 countries.


Commercial Planning Manager

The brand has Circa 1000 products and many of these don't make it into the stores, and it is the duty of the successful applicant to understand why specific products aren't selling in specific areas of the business and then put together a compelling argument as to how they can change things and change their positioning to increase their chance of being sold.

The role of the Commercial Planning Manager will be to present back at a top line level on a weekly basis and then more of an in depth overview of findings on a monthly basis.

If there is a product and project to be launched it is the role of the successful applicant to understand why it is launching at that specific time, to chase up internally to understand whether there is internal approval to launch the product at this time, and work with different internal divisions to make sure this has all be signed off and chase teams to work out how you can get things moving internally.

The Successful will need to be able to understand and analyse pricing strategy, comparing against competitors, understanding their price point and how the business can remain profitable and competitive and gain a competitive advantage. Understanding margin from cost price and selling price.


We are looking for someone who has strong numeracy and analysis skills, understands reporting.

  • Retail background

  • Analsysis skills with large levels of commerciality, ability to interpret numbers into commercial factors

  • Strong communicator, able to liaise and negotiate internally

  • Able to influence at all levels, can be difficult to get anything through the hierarchy so able to continue to push and get things moving.

  • Resilient, able to push back and bounce back from adversity to make sure they are able to continue to analyse and suggest new ideas.

  • Ideally from a trading background - category manager, buyer, merchandiser or supply chain
