BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER / MARKET DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - food retail market
Location: Can be based anywhere in the UK or Europe
Salary:GBP60-75k basic + bonus
Overview:Solution sales & new business focused role targeting food retailers

The ideal person could currently be working for the following;

*A software / technology co working with the food retail market
*Consulting co working with the food retail market
*An RFID solutions company (tags / asset tracking) targeting food retail

OR THIS PERSON COULD HAVE an understanding / exposure of the RFID market along with a brilliant business development background selling in to the food retail industry.

MUST HAVE / MUST BE
*Experience in a BDM / sales / market development role targeting the food retail market
*Previous experience of targeting stakeholders in the food retail market
*An understanding / exposure of the RFID (radio frequency ID) market as a minimum
*A hunter, not a farmer with strong influencing and storytelling skills
*Self-starter who can uncover new opportunities, identify roadmaps and define innovations to address them
*Able to & enjoy creating a need where there is not already a need
*Have a customer list & network within the Food Retail market - contacts with senior-level decision makers at food retailers, brands and packaging firms
*Excellent history of identifying leads and opportunities with the food / retail market
*Proven knowledge of the perishable foods industry - supply in to meats, poultry & seafoods
*Happy to travel across Europe (25% travel)

Main Purpose of the Job:
Responsible, as a part of a team, for driving top line growth and developing new business opportunities for the Food segment. You will work closely with the Product Development and Innovations teams to identify and evaluate opportunities that convert into new or incremental sales.
Main Responsibilities:
*Identify, assess, develop and manage new programs and new business opportunities in the Food Industry, focusing on perishable foods
*Targeting the Fresh Foods market
*Work with prospective customers to identify unmet needs, and present compelling solutions.
*Initiate, determine, and present ROI business case analysis.
*Stay abreast industry trends by attending trade shows, events and staying on top of market insights as well as global branding trends.
*Surface new ideas, products applications and solution to development teams
*Communicate and link key value propositions, differentiators to customer
*Develop long-term business opportunities
*Collaborate with other business units to evaluate volume, identify trends, ensure quality.
