Salary range: GBP30,688 - GBP35,194 per annum inclusive of Outer London Weighting
Job Ref No: MKG190
Middlesex University is a modern, diverse and progressive university based in north London. For 140 years we have been home to change makers and innovators, transforming the lives of our students so they have an excellent experience while they are with us, and a solid foundation for inspiring careers when they leave us.
It's an exciting time to work for Middlesex University as we embark on our new strategy which includes engaging with pressing issues such as UK productivity and skills, social mobility, and strengthening our pivotal place in the London economy and in our local community.
We are looking for a PR Officer to join our busy External Relations team to help us progress these agendas and also to share the transformational stories of our students, to write about innovation in teaching and research, to promote new courses - such as our degree apprenticeships offer - and to help manage our media response in reactive or crisis situations.
Together with a PR Manager and a PR officer, you will work alongside colleagues including academics, marketing teams, policy, staff communications and the Students' Union, as well as key external stakeholders, to share the Middlesex story of transforming potential into success through traditional and non-traditional media.
You will already have some experience of working in a busy press office, dealing with national and local media, getting good news coverage for your work, and managing several projects or priorities at one time. Experience of working in the tertiary education sector would be an advantage but not essential. What is essential is your creativity and passion, your nose for a good news angle, your excellent writing skills and your knack for developing great relationships with national and local news journalists, other important stakeholders, and colleagues.

The role is full-time, permanent, 35.5 hours a week Monday to Friday with some flexibility required to work occasionally in the evenings and at weekends.
