Key responsibilities

  • Manage the team to ensure efficient and timely end-to-end Operational Risk Management coverage and lead a team of experienced Operational Risk professionals.
  • Ensure there is consistent interpretation & implementation of OpRisk policies
  • Design training programs to promote a culture of risk awareness across the business
  • Coordinate the risk assessment process for changes to all business activities
  • Drive the business-wide operational risk self assessment exercise to identify & address control weaknesses and gaps
  • Proactively work to meet regulatory responsibilities and best practice
  • Engender positive working relationships across the group
  • Supporting staff & conducting regular one-to-one meetings and annual reviews as well as managing the general administration relating to staff matters including systems access, training plans, holidays and on boarding of new team members
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with heads of department and other internal and external stakeholders
  • Presenting risk/incident data to boards/risk committees throughout EMEA region where required.

Technical Requirements

  • A minimum of 8 years' relevant work experience in the financial services industry - ideally in a major Banking environment.
  • Strong analytical skills combined with sound knowledge of operational risk tools and best practices
  • Demonstrate experience as capable of excellent people leadership skills in maintaining good business relationships within the business units and across the corporation
  • Strong abilities in communicating the need for change and coming up with effective ways to bring about process improvements
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken/
  • Ability to use initiative and influence a variety of stakeholders across all levels of the business
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to present detailed analysis in a clear and concise manner
  • High degree of numeracy
