We are excited to be working with an International Broadcast Solutions company searching for a talented, hard-working and innovative Application Support / 3rd Line Support Engineer to work onsite in a highly prestigious environment in London's West End!

You will be joining them at an exciting time and will be involved in the core implementation of these complex Broadcast Workflow systems into this major broadcaster and the role will move to an Application Support function.

The end client looks after 1st & 2nd Line application support and you will be responsible for deep diving into the application and supporting SQL Server database, MS Server 2012 and VMware, Hyper-V.

You don't need to be a technical expert in server & networking systems as the key focus is understanding the underlying software, fixing issues but some commercial Windows Server, VMware & Hyper-V is essential.

You will also be involved in interesting project work including testing, planning rollouts of new releases and upgrades.

Additional tasks include:-

- Plan and implement technical changes without unexpected disruption to the service and with minimal oversight
Collaborate with Development and other operational support teams in to support the service
- Carry out routine maintenance work as defined and agreed with the client
- Critically assess technical quality and performance, extracting and analysing system logs where available for escalating to the 4th Line Support Team
- Identify trends and for root cause analysis and resolution
- Identify potential system failures and weaknesses and proactively advise
- Work within their Release Management processes for the deployment of application packages from development through to production environments
- Work within ITIL framework (solid understanding of Incident, Problem, Change)

To be considered for this interesting role you should meet the following criteria:-

- A good natural communicator and excellent verbal and written skills. Able to discuss technical issues in a non-technical way with users and take them back to the 4th Line and Dev Teams
- Good commercial experience in Windows Server 2012 R2, VMware, and Hyper-V, SQL Server
PowerShell, AD / Active Directory
- Application Support - broadcast or other enterprise-wide workflow systems

You will be working in a fast-paced & friendly team within a national broadcaster on a shift pattern that does include some weekends on a traditional 7 day fortnight but not night shifts.

Key Skill Requirements

- MS Server 2012 R2
- Hyper V / VMWare
- Active Directory - Group Policy
- Powershell
- MS SQL (Oracle is acceptable)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- On site client facing experience
- Working in a fast turnaround environment with short SLAs

Desirable

- Exposure to working within a 'Live Broadcasting' environment
- Knowledge of ITIL framework (solid understanding of Incident, Problem, Change)
- Knowledge of the MOS Protocol
- Any MS qualifications are desirable
- Experience writing technical documentation
- Work as part of a team within an agreed shift rota including on-call, weekends and public holidays
- Communicates and problem solves effectively, working to agreed Service Levels (SLAs) and consistently deliver a professional service
- Work within Service Management based processes, continually striving to improve their performance
- Strong experience for supporting production applications in an enterprise Microsoft Windows environment
- Experience in working with ticket systems, e.g. Remedy
- Ability to plan and implement technical changes without unexpected disruption to the service and with minimal oversight
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Development and other operational support teams in to support the service
- Technical degree or equivalent experience
- Critically assess technical quality and performance, extracting and analysing system logs where available for escalating to the Annova 4th Line Support Team and development
- Strong experience of Release Management processes for the deployment of application packages from development through to production environments
- Experience in working within Service Management based processes, continually striving to improve their performance
- Whilst not required, any German language skills would be advantageous
