Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (GBMet) (formerly Northbrook College and City College Brighton) aims to transform the lives of students across the Greater Brighton region. The college will invest in a broad curriculum offer establishing a sound educational footing of mathematics, English and employability skills while at the same time developing a suite of technical and vocational specialisms at level 3 and above. There will be an expansion of its higher education and technical offer and an emphasis on apprenticeships and work based learning.

We are currently seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Lecturer to join the Foundation Learning team delivering on the Independence for Work and Employability and Progression pathways for students with learning difficulties. Your main responsibilities will be course delivery, design and preparation, including the provision of schemes of work and individual learning plans and carrying out course evaluation and self-assessment. You will be student focused, team-orientated and flexible with excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and presenting skills.

You should have previous experience teaching within foundation learning preferably to age 16+ students who have learning difficulties. You will be supporting and guiding students working towards acquiring personal and social development skills such as independence and employability with a varied programme of work experience, community projects and volunteering.

You need to hold a degree or equivalent level 4 qualification in a relevant subject, also a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to attain a teaching qualification as soon as possible and have recent relevant teaching/tutoring experience. You will also need knowledge of the Foundation Learning curriculum and a good understanding of the needs and issues of young people with learning difficulties and be able to communicate effectively with them
