Consultant Engineer Common Infrastructure Services Lead Frimley - full time permanent Would you like to be part of a team that is working towards building a computing environment for UK Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Consultant Engineer - CI Services at our site in Ash Vale. As a Consultant Engineer - CI Services you will be taking commercially available systems and deploying them into incredibly harsh environments with added considerations around safety and security all in relation to the submarine. This role will aid your development into future engineering management and consultant engineering positions. This area of the business is in a constant state of growth and with the nature of the projects will provide an element of longevity to your career. Your main responsibilities as a Consultant Engineer - CI Services Lead will involve: Developing system architecture and designs by gathering and deconstructing technical requirements, either for system specification and development or procurement. Maintaining existing products through fault finding and diagnosis, resolving issues through modifications of existing designs or correcting design defects Driving increased usage of commercially off-the-shelf technology to ensure products are at the cutting edge and as supportable as possible through life. Providing technical input to the project management team to produce robust cost estimates, and risk assessment and mitigation Ensuring system designs are compliant and suitable for the hugely challenging environment that the systems will operate in including EMC, shock, heat and spatial considerations. Utilising a broad skill-base within the Combat Systems team to complete design and development tasks Liaising with test team during product testing, specifying test objectives and parameters to ensure customer requirements are met. Your skills and qualifications: Essential Experience of IT specification and design (including hardware and software) Broad exposure to software and hardware specification; working with servers, desktops, operating systems and software. Desirable Experience of deploying relevant technology into aircraft, land vehicles, tanks, ships, space or defence environments Sound networking knowledge Understanding of requirements management (especially using DOORS) Good level of awareness of real-time systems, network and switching protocols and virtualised network environments Contact Simon Portway
