Legal Executives are as welcome as Solicitors and personal and professional development is encouraged and supported. Once probation is completed a mutually agreed, comprehensive development plan is drawn up so all staff know what they need to do to progress their careers. They are seeking a Commercial Associate for their office in Crawley. The team they would join provides commercial advice to in-house lawyers, their commercial colleagues and managers of businesses. They have strong expertise in technology related issues including IT function, on-line trading, IP rights management, data protection and much more. About the role: Working as part of the team on: - High level matters requiring particular expertise to bring their experience to the team. - Running caseloads and work within the team to ensure work is completed accurately. - Assisting with supervision of junior members of the team. - Providing management assistance around the financial performance of the team. - Developing propositions for clients. - Helping Partners with how work is scoped, priced and allocated. - Leading business development initiatives that conform with the Firm's strategy. Responsibilities will include: - Dealing with drafting, reviewing and negotiating trading agreements, together with supply, purchase and manufacturing agreements including joint ventures and outsourcing. - Providing advice on IT agreements, licences and SLA's both for developers and purchasers. - Advising on e-trading issues and online service solutions. - Advising on matters relating to data protection, particularly supporting initiatives on the incoming GDPRs. - Acting for a wide range of clients. - Managing a large and varied caseload with a strong commercial approach. - Playing a supporting role in building the business and developing marketing initiatives. Requirements: - 8 years PQE. - Experience of technology and IT / software contracts. - Commercial contract experience. - An understanding of protecting Intellectual Property Rights and data protection issues. - Experience working with companies and in-house counsel. - Ability to advise on technical online platforms and SaaS / Cloud computing arrangements. - Experience of working with banking or financial services, desirable but not essential. - Procurement / outsourcing contracts. - Strong IT skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office. - Adaptability to new IT systems and client / case management software products. - Motivated, driven and committed candidates only. - Team player. - Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. - Client focus, with a strength in building and sustaining relationships. - Commercially aware. - Must be determined to provide a truly outstanding service to clients. - An affinity with marketing and business development. - The ability to work well under pressure.
