Greater Brighton Metropolitan College (GBMet) (formerly Northbrook College and City College Brighton) aims to transform the lives of students across the Greater Brighton region.

The college will invest in a broad curriculum offer establishing a sound educational footing of mathematics, English and employability skills while at the same time developing a suite of technical and vocational specialisms at level 3 and above. There will be an expansion of its higher education and technical offer and an emphasis on apprenticeships and work based learning.

We are seeking to recruit a Pastoral and Learning Mentor to provide pastoral care to our diverse cohort of students ensuring they are able to achieve their full potential. Working mostly with individual learners you will be assisting them to manage any issues that are hindering their college attendance or performance. This position will be a mentoring role providing pastoral care and some group tutorials.

You should be a self-motivated organiser able to communicate effectively with young people, internal stakeholders and associated external youth services and other key agencies. You should hold a minimum level 3 qualification in supportive youth services or a related counselling area and have an extensive knowledge of child protection legislation. You also need to be computer literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft office.
