The Team

The London Recruitment Team at Norton Rose Fulbright is a key part of the wider HR and Learning and Development team. The team covers three key areas; Partner recruitment, Graduate recruitment and Lateral recruitment (including associate level hires as well as all business services hires).

We are currently recruiting a Graduate Recruitment Manager to lead the Graduate Recruitment Team.

The Graduate Recruitment team comprises one Manager and three Advisors. The team has successfully established Norton Rose Fulbright in the graduate market and needs to continue to ensure it builds on attracting top talent across all undergraduate programmes and Training Contracts. The team works closely with the Trainee Development, Experienced Hire and Diversity & Inclusion teams, specifically on the on-boarding of future trainees, building effective digital marketing campaigns, and recruiting a diverse graduate population for the business.

This position reports directly to the Head of Recruitment, and works closely with the Graduate Recruitment Partner and the Deputy Graduate Recruitment Partner.

The Role

This position is a key role within the Graduate Recruitment team and has responsibility for attracting and recruiting the best talent for the firm, as well as management of the team.

The candidate requires significant understanding of the graduate recruitment process at all levels and will work closely with partners, international offices, the wider HR and Learning & Development department and key external stakeholders including universities, marketing agencies and diversity organisations.

Specific responsibilities include:
  • Responsibility for the recruitment of all London trainee solicitors, vacation students and open day candidates. Norton Rose Fulbright recruits up to 45 trainee solicitors, 60 vacation students (including first steps and winter/summer vacation schemes) and 50 open day candidates each year
  • Developing and delivering a solid recruitment and attraction strategy at 18 UK universities: includes managing relationships with key stakeholders within the business and at universities, managing significant sponsorship projects, measuring return on investment, developing and delivering skills workshops and competitions, presenting on campus
  • Responsibility for ensuring the Norton Rose Fulbright brand is developed and promoted effectively using social media, websites, advertising, brochures and through editorial opportunities. This involves working closely with the global marketing, brand and digital teams and with colleagues based in international offices
  • Develop strong relationships internally with partners, associates and trainees with a view to engaging their support with the graduate recruitment agenda
  • Keep abreast of market developments and suggest ideas and actions that will help us improve the way we recruit graduate
  • Help support the alignment of graduate recruitment activities across the EMEA region
  • Working closely with the Diversity & Inclusion team to attract, recruit and retain diverse candidates (includes Pathways to Law, PRIME, Rare, SEO, Social Mobility Foundation, Pure Potential, Aspiring Solicitors and Great with Disability)
  • Responsibility for the graduate assessment process, researching and implementing new methodologies for assessing graduates to ensure that the firm selects the right candidates
  • Interviewing trainee solicitor, vacation student and university manager candidates
  • Responsibility for securing high conversion rates from vacation schemes and training contract assessment days
  • Ensure the effective use of CV Mail (recruitment system), including presenting reports
  • Responsibility for the Graduate Recruitment budget
  • Responsibility for ensuring that HR and Recruitment best practice is followed at all times
  • Working closely with the Trainee Development team to ensure the information obtained about a candidate during the interview process is actively used once the trainee has joined the firm
  • Line management responsibility for three Graduate Recruitment Advisors


Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous graduate recruitment at managerial level in a law firm or professional services desirable
  • Experience of managing and motivating a team
