Job Description for Management Accountant

Overview

Chess Dynamics Ltd is a medium sized UK company that provides technical solutions within the defence and security sectors. Having 3 sites across the UK and working with some of the largest defence contractors worldwide, Chess has positioned itself as a strong and stable employer.

We currently require a Management Accountant to join our small Finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Sage Line 50 accounts system and for preparing and maintaining financial reports.

Responsibilities

• As Management Accountant, you will report directly to the Financial Controller and in his absence to Financial Director.
• You will be responsible for all processing within Sage, including invoices, payments, receipts, journals, fixed assets, prepayments, accruals and journals, in order to produce a monthly trial balance for review by the Financial Controller.
• Liaising between the Financial Controller and Purchasing Department to agree supplier credit limits and payment terms.
• Co-ordinating with the Accounts Assistant for reconciliation of supplier statements, processing supplier payments and issuing remittance advices.
• Preparation of monthly reconciliation's and schedules to support the trial balance.
• Processing Sage month and Year end, maintaining adequate back-ups
• Working with the Financial Controller on the preparation of year-end audit files, liaising with auditors to ensure a smooth audit.
• Co-ordinating with the Accounts Assistant on the monthly and quarterly reports for VAT, EC Sales Lists and Intrastat submissions.
• Assist the Accounts Assistant with the collation of monthly overtime/expenses and processing credit card transactions
• Co-ordinating with the Financial Controller to manage Stock, WIP and Project Accounting reports.
• Assistance with and production of ad-hoc financial information as and when required.
• Preparation of Monthly management accounts for submission to the Board of Directors.

Experience & Qualifications

• The successful candidate must have previous experience within a management accounting position.
• Ability to effectively manage internal and external expectations
• Good attention to detail with the ability to communicate at all levels.
• Good IT skills with strong knowledge of Excel and Sage is necessary.
