Department Profile
The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records and by contributing to Firm wide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.

The Finance Strategy, Operations & Technology group (SOT) is responsible for managing delivery of the Change the Bank (CTB) program. This comprises a set of projects that address risk, efficiency and regulatory requirements. The current portfolio of projects is broad and includes the Detail Sub Ledger (DSL) and General Ledger Renovation (GLR).

Team Profile
The Detail Sub Ledger (DSL) Project team within the Finance Strategy, Operations & Technology group (SOT) is responsible for the design and implementation of a new Finance subledger. The DSL Program is a multiyear front to back renovation program to deliver a set of rules, workflows, controls and analytical and reporting tools over a central repository of data necessary for the Finance division.

The project is currently focussed on onboarding the Global Product Control (GPC) groups and the businesses they support. The delivery is by asset class and business line.

An opening exists to join the DSL Project team within Finance SOT as a Business Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the implementation of new systems and controls within Morgan Stanley, working with clients from Finance and working extensively across the DSL Program functional teams. There is extensive global interaction as our clients, the businesses they support and the DSL Program resources are situated in many different regions.

Primary Responsibilities
As a Business Analyst within Finance SOT working on the DSL Project team responsibilities will include:
- The successful generation and implementation of functional requirements.
- Performing analysis on current state processes.
- Developing solutions for future state processes.
- Reconciliation of user requirements to the new system capabilities.
- Liaison between user community and Finance Technology.
- Representing the user interests in system design and technology decisions.
- Identify and implement business process improvements and changes.
- Testing new functionality and contributing to the successful roll-out of new business lines.

Skills required (essential)
- The candidate should be a graduate, and preferably be a qualified Accountant or have a Finance based qualification.
- Business Analysis experience gained from working on a project would be preferable.
- Knowledge and experience of financial products accounting.
- High regard for attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High self-motivation and the ability to work both independently and as an effective team member.
- Ability to partner and work effectively both with direct team members and with colleagues across the wider organisation, and to work with clients.
- Strong planning and prioritization skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks and with multiple stakeholders.
