Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.
Team Profile
The London Corporate Actions processing team is a critical part of the global group responsible for asset servicing at Morgan Stanley. The team is responsible for setting up and processing client elections on EMEA voluntary equity corporate actions and as a result has high levels of interaction with all businesses and trading desks of the Firm with a primary focus on core the businesses of Prime Brokerage, Stock Lending and Equity Swaps.

Primary Responsibilities
To set up and send out corporate action information to clients accurately and in a timely manner also manage the election process for a corporate action through to deadline, balancing long and short positions and sending instructions to our local agent bank. This involves:
Understanding the different types of corporate action and local market nuances
Understanding Morgan Stanley's accounting structure
Managing the firm's risk and exposure during the lifecycle of the event
Checking the commerciality of clients elections
Developing a strong and trusting relationship with stakeholders
Developing relationships with all of our agent banks, registrars, and exchanges and occasionally issuing companies in the various jurisdictions
Collecting any required legal or jurisdictional documentation
Providing input into new service level agreements
Liaising with legal around restriction
Submit elections to agent bank
Communicating with external agents and internal business units
Another essential component of the role is dealing with ad hoc requests from a variety of different Business Units across Morgan Stanley, e.g. Client Service Groups, Private Wealth Management and Financial Controllers, as and when they arise.
You will use a combination of industry tools (e.g. Euclid, Webmax and SWIFT) and market leading proprietary systems (e.g. Scorpio and ASRV) in daily work.
This is a dynamic team operating in fast paced environment where attention to detail and risk awareness is critical along with a need to be able to analyse a changing situation quickly and to make well informed decisions under pressure. The ability to develop strong and trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders is critical to success in this role.
The department has a proven track record of developing its team members in a wide variety of functions and skills. This role provides an opportunity to grow and develop your career within the asset servicing function, the wider Operations team and into other areas of the Firm. Top performers gain recognition from trading desks, Prime Brokerage and other teams in Operations, such as trade matching and settlements.

The ideal candidate should display the following:

Good analytical skills
Strong team player with good communication skills
Commercial understanding of the markets and a client's needs
Attention to detail, risk awareness and appropriate escalation
Good time management is essential, as the role is in a high volume, high risk area that works to strict deadlines
Can work well under pressure, lending control and order to a difficult or pressurised situation
Strong organizational skills, to be able to use time well and prioritise tasks effectively

Skills desired

Knowledge of settlement rules of EMEA markets
We expect that the likely candidates may have developed the necessary competencies in a similar role across a six month period within voluntary corporate actions processing
The candidate should be hardworking, motivated & able to work well under pressure
They should be flexible and adaptable to change
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
