The Operations division is both the first line of defence for protecting Morgan Stanley's financial and reputational well-being, and an essential partner contributing to the firm's growth. Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors. Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Team Profile
Trading Support Group: Interest Rate Derivatives Trade Support Group (TSG) is a team of middle office professionals based on the trading floor covering the Flow Rates, Structured Rates, Structured Notes and DSP businesses. This group apply vital controls in the trade capture and portfolio management process to ensure that P&L generation and risk is accurately captured. The successful candidate will be liaising with Trading, Sales and other Operations departments on a daily basis. The Trade Support Group is the conduit for all post execution information flow to other operational departments. The successful candidate may also assist management with tactical improvements to technology and processes to incorporate the latest industry initiatives and best practises.
Primary Responsibilities
• Monitoring of all trades booked from execution to settlement.
• Confirming all positions and P/L for allocated traders.
• Liaising with other Operational departments to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
• Work closely with Strats to review complex structure rates / structured note derivatives.
• Monitoring and resolving breaks on a daily basis.

Skills Required

• With the traders as our clients, the candidate must develop a strong working relationship with each group of traders that they will cover.

Business Knowledge:
• A strong understanding in fixed income derivatives is required with prior experience of a trade support role in addition.
• We expect that likely candidates may have developed the necessary competencies in a similar role over a 3-5 years' period.
• An in depth knowledge of how derivatives trade, price and life cycle events impact the firm.
• An awareness of the current regulatory reporting climate and its impact on fixed income businesses.
• The successful candidate primary responsibility is to ensure that the positions are always correct and all trades are matched and exposure is kept to a minimum.
• A high level of competency with Excel is essential due to the extensive work involved from the bespoke technical analysis that is often required.

Professional Attributes:

• Working on a trading floor, the candidate must be professional at all times especially under high pressure situations.

• Organisational Ability: Whilst the group is volume sensitive the exotic nature of some the products and the complex life cycle events require the candidate to be able to successfully organise and prioritise their work.

• Communication: TSG is a key point of contact for all areas of the bank, the candidate must be able to clearly explain complex details to other interested parties and articulate the Ops perspective to the desk, communication must be done in a professional and timely manner.

• Teamwork: Essential in a close team where each member will cover another in their absence. Knowledge sharing and assistance is a requirement to flatten out unequal workloads that may occur across the desk.

• Degree level (2:1) in maths, economics, science degree or equivalent
