The Operations division is both the first line of defence for protecting Morgan Stanley's financial and reputational well-being, and an essential partner contributing to the firm's growth. Facing off to all Morgan Stanley businesses and interacting with all other parts of the Firm, the Operations division supports a complex, multi-faceted portfolio of businesses in full compliance with regulatory guidelines and the directives of the Operating Committee and Board of Directors. Members of the Operations team have a unique vantage point as the division touches all parts of the business, front to back. One of the largest divisions in the firm, Operations has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Team Profile
The Cash Equity Trade Support Team is part of the global Securities Operations business that is responsible for all Cash Equity market side trade booking and reconciliation for 30 markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

The EMEA Equity Trade Support department are responsible for but not limited to the below tasks:
Booking and external reconciliation for all EMEA equity market side executions (Exchange & Broker).
Position reconciliation for Equity Desks across all products (Traders Risk vs Books and Records).
Control team supervision for the internal reconciliation team (MS captive) and external reconciliation team (at vendor E-clerx), both based in Mumbai.
Central point of contact for Equity related queries across Morgan Stanley including NPAs, regulatory / industry changes and new business enablement.
Co-ordinating Market Infrastructure Projects for IED.
Market participation in Industry working groups / committees (eg AFME etc).
London based relationship management ownership for Equity Operations with IED and London based counterparts.
Managing market risk.

Primary Responsibilities
The Vice President of EMEA Equity TSG works closely with the Business Units and Infrastructure management in realising Firm objectives. The role requires a high level of risk management awareness and guardianship. The candidate needs to demonstrate they can take ownership of initiatives and make pragmatic and sometimes difficult decisions based on sound judgment in complex situations, which serve the best long term interests of the organisation.
The candidate needs to fully understand the Business Unit requirements and objectives, provide advice / recommendations as appropriate and help drive prioritisation.
The individual will need to work effectively across geographical and functional boundaries, and develop strong relationships and networks across the firm. Well-tuned client skills are essential.

Additionally, the incumbent will
Manage and drive process improvement projects disseminated to the team, such as automating manual processes, streamlining existing processes, reducing CnC stats and tighten risk control measures.
Be responsible for legal entity level supervision for in scope trade flows.
Looking at and driving down costs to the business.
Provide input to market infrastructure and Change the Bank / Run the Bank projects impacting Cash Equity Trade Support.
Involvement in prioritisation, design and testing where appropriate.
Attend and actively participate in Industry working groups (eg AFME) to help promote and drive outcomes in line with the Firm's objectives.

Skills Required
The Team Manager needs to have and maintain a high level of knowledge and understanding of trade entry, reconciliation and clearance systems and be able to understand trading flows on both market side execution and client side orders across all EMEA Equity markets.
There is an increasing expectation that the incumbent will also have adequate knowledge and understanding of systems, processes and technology that are both up and down stream of their direct responsibility.
This is required not only for guidance in resolving day to day issues that require resolution, but also when testing and signing off enhancements to current processes, and the development of new trade flows.

Market Awareness

The Team Manager should be aware of the workings of a market with a view on regulatory and compliance requirements and impact to the underlying MS booking entity. Thus the impact of movements in the market or changes in regulation can have on the risk managed. Again the team, and in many cases departments across the Firm will be seeking guidance from the incumbent.
There is an expectation that the candidate will have the opportunity to represent the firm at Industry level (eg AFME) as required and as such the Team Manager will need to lead this team to perform the above tasks at a consistently high level and under tight turnaround times.
They will also need to ensure there is a constant cooperative partnership with internal teams, many of which are located in different regions around the world.

Due to the nature of the role, the individual needs to be able to lead & co-ordinate teams of people in achieving a defined objective. The candidate will need to build strong relationships with people across all levels and areas of the Firm including Senior Management, often across location.

Defining the strategic direction of the team, and creating a pathway to achieve its delivery will be a key deliverable.

Demonstration of good organisation skills and ability to manage multiple initiatives is a core requirement of the role. The candidate should have a clear understanding of how to distinguish priorities in a high pressure environment.
This requires an individual to have strong communication, organisation and people management skills. They need to understand the appropriate level of communication for each of their stakeholders so expectations are managed and involvement is sought as and when required. They will need to be able to clearly articulate objectives, requirements, highlight, manage and escalate risks & issues.

The candidate will need to be a good team player. They should be able to motivate and drive individuals to achieve high standards by co-ordinating their goals. They should understand the importance of knowledge sharing and what knowledge can be leveraged across teams to achieve optimum output. They will be able to demonstrate leadership qualities and utilise influencing skills to manage issues and move initiatives forward when faced with difficult challenges.

The successful applicant is likely to have developed the necessary competencies in a similar role over a 10-15 year period at a similar Financial Services institution. A proven history of successfully leading and developing people, in addition to managing front to back technical workflows is a pre-requisite for the role.
