OVERVIEW: Head of Finance Operations

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant with extensive Financial Accounting & Treasury experience of successfully leading a global finance team through the annual statutory reporting and audit process; experience of developing customer friendly financial systems, policies and procedures which create a sound financial environment and ensure organisational value for money

Role overview

In this role you will lead the financial accounting, treasury, payroll, and finance systems functions globally, work closely with Regional Finance Managers and Finance Managers, present and deliver user-focused financial services, a strong control environment, and ensuring compliance and reporting are adhered to.

Major Tasks & Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy

* Work closely with the Director of Finance and the Head of Finance Decision Support to develop a robust financial plan, ensuring key financial risks are identified and managed.
* Ensure financial performance, risks and opportunities are regularly analysed, reported, and responded to.

Financial Operations

* Lead team to provide relevant and valued global finance operational support to the organisation. Main functional responsibilities are financial accounts, statutory requirements, treasury, payroll, and financial systems.
* Work with senior managers and finance staff globally to deliver regular accurate and reliable flows of financial information as required.
* Ensure the finance team is adequately resourced and equipped with the right tools to deliver a high quality, customer focused, and pro-active service.

Treasury

Lead the Treasury Committee and Finance Officer - Treasury to:

* Develop and implement Treasury Policy
* Manage treasury risks
* Produce robust cashflow forecasting
* Provide monthly treasury reporting and analysis for management.

Compliance and Financial Control

* Ensure compliance with statutory, funding and tax regulations, fulfilling its requirements as a charity, company, and employer.
* Provide robust and effective financial policies, processes and controls and ensure compliance . Seek continuous improvement through reflection, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
* Lead the preparation of the statutory financial statements and the annual report. Co-ordinate the completion of year end processes across finance and lead the statutory audit process.

Systems

* Manage the -System analyst to ensure robust, reliable and accurate systems which consistently meet the needs of the finance team and deliver strong controls.
* Drive the development of existing and new systems to deliver efficiency and effectiveness gains and to respond to new requirements.

People Management

* Effectively lead and develop a high performing team within the performance management framework.
* Ensure team ways of working and behaviors are in line with the organisation values and policies, and comply with legal and organisation requirements.
* Ensure team responds positively to change, delivers a consistent high level customer-focused approach, and achieves objectives.

Internal Audit Secondment

Support/ lead one Country Office internal audit per financial year

EDUCATION AND SKILLS

Qualification

* Fully qualified accountant with extensive post qualification experience.
* Knowledge of the financial operation and control issues affecting large international non-governmental organisations and specific accounting, taxation and other compliance requirements for Charities

Strategic Leadership

* Strong leadership skills to undertake a complex senior management role in a global organisation.
* Ability to think and act strategically whilst maintaining a significant operational workload.
* Significant senior level management experience.
* Ability to develop, implement and monitor financial strategy.
* Experience of successfully leading change programmes in response to changing internal and external environments

Statutory Year End and Audit & Treasury

* Experience of successfully leading a global finance team through the annual statutory reporting and audit process.
