We have an opportunity for a Learning Resources Assistant to join the team based at our Chichester & Brinsbury campus working 37 hours per week, 38 weeks per year (paid for 43 weeks) . You will receive a competitive salary pro rata of £16,793 - £17,822 (i.e. £13,886.52 - £14,737.42) per annum.

From 1 August 2017, Central Sussex College will change its name to Crawley College. It will also merge with Chichester College as part of a group structure.

Chichester College is the largest provider of further education in West Sussex. We are a key provider of education and employment to those in our local communities and make a critical contribution to local economic development.  We were established in Chichester in 1964 and also have a 570 acre land-based provision on our Brinsbury campus near Pulborough. We employ over 1,250 full and part-time staff.

As our Learning Resources Assistant you will enjoy working in a busy Learning Resources Centre, with fresh challenges on a daily basis. You will be helping students find and use resources and assisting colleagues with improving and maintaining stock, facilities and shelving.

Key Responsibilities as our Learning Resources Assistant

- Under the direction of the Site Librarian and College Librarian, to provide frontline services to students and staff using the LRC.

- Assist in the development of resources and services of the LRC, in keeping with Performance Indicators and action plans.

- Participate in the administrative duties appropriate to the role.

- Perform a range of routine duties necessary to the running of the LRC including shelving and shelf-tidying, overdues, processing periodicals receipt, cash-handling, general IT support, equipment maintenance etc.

- Monitor the LRC environment by ensuring an atmosphere conducive to learning and by monitoring the Centre's fabric equipment and building services.

- Participate in training and development as required, subject to approval and funding.

Skills & Experience required of Learning Resources Assistant:

- Experience of working in a library in a customer service context is essential

- Proven IT, communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience of working in further education would be advantageous,

- Ideally hold a qualification in administration, IT or library work.
