About the role

The job holder will contribute significantly to the growth and retention of new business, be the primary support person for the Business Development Executives and will spend the vast majority of his/her time on managing these larger key external accounts which the Business Development Executives win, provide high quality advice and service to these clients and retain and develop our business relationships with them.

This position is a key and pivotal role in the office to aid the development of the company in the wider specialist sector that will require a confident and experienced senior commercial account handler, with some underwriting experience or a high technical insurance competency, a pleasant, professional and mature outlook and 'can-do' attitude to work cross functionally with Business Development Executives and of a similar pedigree.

They will work with colleagues and external insurers, loss adjusters, placing brokers, external claims handlers etc as needed, be an effective member of the team and comply strictly with all business and office procedures and FCA rules.

What education & experience do we need?

Educated to A Level Standard
Computer literate and experienced using an insurance broking systems
Demonstrable sales, influencing and negotiation skills to achieve targets and best outcomes for clients and business
Ability to produce accurate, well presented reports and risk registers
Solid and excellent track record of successfully handling large and complex commercial insurance risks and broking for new and existing clients
Demonstrable understanding of technical information required by underwriters to obtain the best possible quotations and produce high quality broking presentations
Experience working with a wide range/panel of insurers and products from the open market, dealing with underwriters and insurer claims managers and delegated binding authorities
Demonstrable claims handling experience
Cert cii an advantage
Ideally have some underwriting experience or evidence of high technical competency

What technical knowledge is required?

Demonstrable knowledge of all key classes of commercial insurance business in particular the management liabilities lines
Maintains up to date knowledge of your area of work and risks/insurance needs that specifically relate to the business, whilst being able to confidently and clearly explain these to the client and provide details of cover available to meet these needs
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of FSA Compliance and TCF practices
