Lead Field Engineer (Installation, Engineer) Salary: Highly Competitive Location: London Following THALES' successful partnership with London Underground (LUL), modernising London's underground signalling infrastructure on the Jubilee and Northern upgrade project (JNUP), we are delivering the GBP800million 4 Lines Modernisation Programme (4LM). THALES is delivering an Automatic Train Control (ATC) system for four of London Underground's Sub Surface Rail (SSR) lines: District, Circle, Metropolitan and Hammersmith & City. The programme has a five year duration and is a comprehensive solution including management, design, development, manufacturing, supply, delivery, construction, installation, integration, testing, commissioning and migration. About the Lead Field Engineer (Installation, Engineer) role: We are currently recruiting for a Lead Field Engineer (Installation, Engineer) for Signalling Installation. Reporting to the Installation Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the technical integrity of the CTBTC system installation; monitoring and controlling the installation activities in a portion of the London Underground SSR ATC (Signalling and automatic train control system) upgrade project.. Your area of responsibility specifically relates to the legacy interface and CBTC Migration Area completion scopes of installation work in coordination with the Installation Technical Manager and the Installation Subcontractors. It is a full time, permanent position based in our client's office in London. Duties & responsibilities of the Lead Field Engineer (Installation, Engineer): -Co-ordinate the distribution to site of nights Installation Field Engineers, Thales HSE advisors, Thales QA Field Engineers and Thales QS Field Engineers - Supporting the technical assessment of on site Installation Subcontractor queries alongside the Field Engineers. - Supporting the Installation Subcontractor with the reporting of installation queries. - Responsible for reporting technical installation errors to the Installation Technical Manager. - Support the technical assessment of design modifications. - Reporting of subcontractor installation progress. - Co-ordination of any interface between multiple Installation Subcontractors. - Co-ordination of any interface between the Installation Subcontractor and the Thales Testing & Commissioning Team - Ensure all assigned work is completed to schedule, to budget (agreed hours) and to quality. - Ensure that monitoring and tracking procedures are followed and maintained at all times. - Develop and implement new strategies to better process. - Ensure that all the technical information has been distributed to the right people within the team and to the subcontractors. - Assist Installation Project Managers in the execution of the installation strategy by managing the subcontractors accordingly. Skills & attributes of the Lead Field Engineer (Installation, Engineer): -Extensive experience of Installation management; either wayside, SER or SCC works, or a combination of these within a similar role -Experience of working to and understanding signalling & mechanical design. -Evidence of having worked in cross-discipline environments. - Holder of an IRSE Installation Team Leader's licence or IRSE engineering equivalent. - Rail Installation background. - Excellent IT skills, including skills around the use of Thales IS, principally: MIDAS, ClearQuest. - Excellent communication skills.
