Reporting to the Director of the Postal Museum, the Head of Finance will be a key member of the Senior Management Team and take direct responsibility of the Finance department and all aspects of the organisations Financial Management. Details about the Client In July 2017, The Postal Museum (formerly The British Postal Museum & Archive) opened a new heritage attraction in Central London, with two experiences in one. Alongside the story of British social and communications history, The Postal Museum will offer a subterranean ride on the old Post Office Underground Railway - Mail Rail. This new museum and attraction will showcase the extraordinary stories from five centuries of one of the country's most iconic services, grow already ongoing educational charity work and fundamentally change the way the organisation engages with its audiences. The Postal Museum will welcome over 180,000 visitors a year, along with a further 400,000 through its public events programme, digital and outreach offers. The Postal Museum will represent a significant addition to London's cultural landscape. Detailed Job Description Reporting to the Director of the Postal Museum, the Head of Finance will be a key member of the Senior Management Team and take direct responsibility of the Finance department and all aspects of the organisations Financial Management. MAIN OBJECTIVES Manage the Finance department ensuring that it delivers a full finance function to the organisation. Act as the finance lead for the Postal Museum, including its trading companies, ensuring an effective system of financial policies and control across the organisation. Act as part of the Postal Museum Senior Management Team ensuring financial considerations are at the heart of decision-making process. Oversee and take responsibility for the successful completion of the annual budgeting and forecasting process as part of the Postal Museum's overall framework of control and monitoring and controlling the budget to ensure delivery within agreed targets. Take responsibility for the presentation and financial reporting to the Heritage Lottery Fund and other funders and stakeholders and Ensure adherence to Royal Mail & Post Office Ltd funding requirements (or conditions). Lead on compiling the Annual Statutory Accounts and Trustee reports for the charity and its subsidiary companies. Act as Company Secretary for all of the Postal Museum's companies. Candidate's Profile We are looking for a talented and ambitious Head of Finance who enjoys and will thrive operating in startup environment. You must be CCAB Qualified (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA) with demonstrable experience of strategic financial management and evidence of operating at Senior Manager level on a day to day basis. Excellent communication skills with exceptional interpersonal are essential, as are a commercial mind set and an innovative approach. You must be able to balance the needs of operating at a strategic level with the requirement to execute at a hands on level, with strong attention to detail and ability to cross-manage a variety of detailed financial matters simultaneously. Knowledge and experience of the management of donated funds from multiple sources and the management of funds for a capital project would be an advantage. Ideally you will have worked in a visitor attraction and have breadth of exposure to both commercial and charity organisations. However previous experience working in visitor attraction or the Charity/not for profit is not essential provided that you are able to demonstrate a desire to move into the sector.
