Sopra Steria Recruitment are working in partnership with a large utilities organisation based in South Hampshire.

Role Overview

We are looking for someone who:
Has worked in a similar role previously - so a background in Project Cost Accounting for multiple significant (mm) IT projects and programmes, or ideally within an IT Portfolio is essential. Whilst a handover period is planned, we are looking for someone who can join the team and get immediately up to speed
Is highly motivated and able to work well as part of a team, demonstrating good leadership where required
Is highly analytical and able to work with a fine excellent attention to detail in a high-pressure work environment
Has a strong customer focused approach and is able to challenge constructively with excellent negotiation skills
Is an effective and confident communicator
Effectively uses their collaborative and influencing skills, and their subject matter expertise, to coach others to the required standards. This is to support ongoing work to improve both our financial processes and financial capabilities within IT
Is able to bring best practise and other project cost accounting learnings to the role. We are looking to continually improve - so subject matter expertise and a willingness to innovate are essential.
Is highly proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. We use a number of complex spreadsheets to support our analysis processes and the ability to work with these is vital. Use of Oracle E-business Suite (our procure to pay system) or other ERP would be an advantage, as would knowledge of SharePoint.
Has knowledge of the end to end project and programme life cycle and the application of financial processes within these. This is important to help ensure good financial governance is maintained and approve appropriate challenge to projects and programmes when required.
Has a part (or full) accountancy qualification - although not essential this is highly desirable.
