It has never been more exciting or challenging to work in Counter Terrorism Policing and this is a unique opportunity to work as part of the Senior Leadership Team in CT Policing South East, creating an environment that enables all our staff to work together to keep people safe; developing, implementing and co-ordinating the Counter Terrorism Protect and Prepare CT/DE Strategy for the South East region.
Applications are invited from substantive Chief Inspectors and from substantive Inspectors who are not subject to any outstanding disciplinary or integrity issues on promotion for the role of Chief Inspector - Protect & Prepre. Substantive Chief Inspectors will be given priority in this process.
In this role you will lead and manage the CT protective security community assets employed in CT Policing South East, working with NaCTSO to co-ordinate their activity in line with national, regional and local priorities taking cognisance of national guidance. You will also work with the chair of the regional Protect and Prepare Board, developing and maintaining relationships with forces in order to help inform the operational response plans to CT/DE incidents or events in a consistent way across the South East region.
You will have experience and proven ability of working in partnership at a strategic and tactical level with other agencies and you will need to be a skilled communicator and negotiator with proven ability to provide tactical command of the police response to a major event (e.g. as a Silver Public Order Commander or a Tactical Firearms Commander).
For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or acquire appropriate security clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post. This post is therefore restricted to UK nationals. As such, in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002), applicants who do not hold or acquire Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance and meet the nationality requirements cannot be offered the post
This role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you will be required to travel for business purposes. This may include travel across the UK and is not limited to the south east. You will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working hours in line with operational demand and occasionally this may require working away from home.
