Off the Record is a local agency that provides a range of support services for children and young people living, studying or working within the London Boroughs of Croydon, Sutton and Merton. The agency has been operating for over 20 years and is well-regarded in the local community and is supported by Croydon and Sutton local authorities and local Clinical Commissioning Groups as well as a range of charitable funders. We are looking for a family support worker to work directly with young carers and their families in order to improve their family situation. Candidates must be resilient, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic individuals who are motivated, hardworking and keen to join our very busy and friendly team in supporting young carers and their families. The Education and Family Support Worker post is a full time role providing family support but also carrying a strong emphasis on supporting schools to better support young carers. The post will be for one year initially. The post will be responsible for providing advice, advocacy and information to individual young carers and their families, whilst liaising with children and adults services both in voluntary and statutory sectors. In addition, the Education and Family Support Worker will work directly with schools and other agencies, within the context of the Carers Trusts Schools Award, to raise awareness of the issues affecting young carers so that their needs may be more effectively met. We will not accept CV's as a form of application, applicants must submit an application form and address the job description and person specification.
