Iran Researcher - (Iran team based in London) Amnesty International is looking for an experienced Researcher to join our Iran team based in London to shape and develop our human rights research on Iran.ABOUT THE ROLEAs a research-based campaigning organization, investigating and documenting human rights issues is fundamental to our advocacy and lobbying work. We are looking for a Researcher on Iran to take the lead in initiating human rights research and action by providing contextual and thematic expertise, excellent research skills and sound political judgement. An added campaign-oriented approach to your work is essential, and thematic expertise in economic, social or cultural rights is highly recommended. You'll be required to conduct and co-ordinate research activities, monitor, investigate and analyse political, legal and social developments and human rights conditions, give authoritative advice on these areas, including to the media, and prepare human rights action materials.ABOUT YOUWith experience of working on human rights issues, you must have first-hand in-depth knowledge of the regional socio-political context of Iran. You have experience on working on pressing issues in Iran, such as the current context affecting Human Rights Defenders. You are a creative researcher with experience in applying new methodologies and technologies for human rights research. You have strong documentation skills, are able to provide rapid but sound analysis of complex situations. You have a background in activism, academia, social science, law or journalism with the ability to identify and thoroughly investigate those issues and ensure our voice has authority. You have knowledge of international human rights standards and familiarity with regional and universal mechanisms for the protection of human rights. A natural collaborator, you need proven research and influential communication skills, impartial political judgement, coupled with strong strategic thought.
