Grounds Person Job Description: Sussex Equine Hospital Ltd WORKING HOURS - 15 per week, split over 5 mornings (Mon-Fri), but flexibility important TASKS - Grounds The post holder will inspect external areas of the practice weekly and keep records of checks made and problems/issues identified. The post holder will refer to managers any issues that he/she cannot safely resolve e.g. anything that needs the involvement of a qualified electrician. Routine, regular duties will include: Preparing areas of the practice for daily use (e.g. sand school needs levelling, and sweeping of trot up and lunge areas is required) Planting, weeding and clearing of beds, borders, pots and hanging baskets Clearing of pathways Blowing / sweeping external areas Cleaning windows (external and internal) Moss/brambles removal as directed across whole site. Watering plants. General gardening and mowing Cleaning drains/gulley General painting when and if required Putting up hooks, signs, brackets etc as required (general handyman work) TASKS - Security Undertake regular security checks. TASKS - Maintenance/project work Dealing with pest control problems Dealing with minor electrical problems (e.g. changing light tubes/bulbs). Fixing minor toilet/drains problems and blocked sinks etc. Health & Safety It is essential that the post holder wears appropriate personal protective equipment and safeguards own/others' health and safety at all times. It is hoped that a large mower will be purchased, and a small tractor in time - the post holder will be asked to maintain this equipment appropriately.
