Manage a Disabled Children's Team

A London based Local Authority is seeking an experienced Social Work Manager to provide operational management to their Children with Disabilities service. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a Local Authority which has recently made excellent progress and taken large steps in bringing about positive change throughout children's services

This post is currently being covered by a long standing locum member of staff, however as the Local Authority are looking to bring in a larger permanent workforce they are now looking to recruit to this post with the view of further improving stability of the service.

Working as a Team Manager you will be managing a small team of 5 staff who are all permanent and established members of the team and therefore are all able to work independently. As this is already an established team you will not be required to allocate additional resources in order to bring the team up to capacity, effectively reducing your workload when you commence the post.

The Disabled Children's team deal with all complex cases and members of the team will require your support in order to complete their tasks effectively. As well as operational management you will be providing supervision and guidance to your staff, the Local Authority are really keen on bringing in people who are able to empower their staff.

With the teams being relatively small you will have more time to do more individual work and will average just over 1 supervision per week in order to provide the necessary amount of supervision. As well as providing supervision you will also be supported by your own manager who will always be accessible and is very approachable. You will also be able to take advantage of the Local Authorities career development opportunities with reviews being held every 6 months and a clear and defined criteria as to what you need to achieve in order for promotion.

To be considered for this post you should ideally have managed a front line Social Work team.
