Overview The Senior Network Engineer must be a highly motivated and highly autonomous network professional who has the ability to design and operate production network systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and an ability to interact efficiently with peers and customers is required.

The role would suit someone who is interested in increasing and leveraging their personal network in the global network community. Our team will rely on this role to assist during the sales process by helping our business development team to improve our relationships with key carriers and to assist in the negotiation of technical and commercial terms.

A relevant degree in a related technical discipline or at least three years' relevant experience in a cloud network operations environment is preferred. Demonstrable experience delivering private and public cloud concepts preferably in an OpenStack environment. Substantial domestic and international travel will be required. It is key that this person is interested in learning and willing to take on a future role as coach and mentor as the technical sales team grows within our organisation. Core Skills and Background Include

• Professional acumen and demeanour

• Experience with the following protocols and concepts: TCP/IP, TCP/IP Flow control, UDP, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP, DNS, ARP, HTTP, SSL, STP, Trunking, & Port Channelling, IPsec and TLS.

• Ability to design and operate networking in a cloud-first implementation

• Ability and experience in automating and orchestrating network administration tasks through creation and maintenance of scripts and tools.

• Expertise in with network monitoring and reporting tools and technology.

• Experience with Firewalls to include Fortigate, Cisco and Juniper.

• Expertise in Tier III support.

• Experience with design and support the development of orchestration tools for on demand cloud architectures.

• Experience working in virtualised enterprise networking environments in such things as SDLAN, SDWAN, VXLAN, FWaaS etc

• Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution.

• Experience working in a Linux operating environment.

• Software development/programming/scripting skills, e.g. shell (bash, ksh, csh), perl, python, etc.

• Experience with inside team training and technical coaching.

• Experience with technical writing IE: SOPs, technical proposals, etc.

• Experience with Visio.

• The ability to work to KPI targets.

• Highly organised with excellent structure and process.

• Ability to operating efficiently under pressure.

• Effective prioritization and time management.

•Ability to quickly absorb new technical concepts and present them to others.

Highly Desired Qualities Include

• Applicants with network certifications are preferred.

• Experience supporting certifications such as ISO27001.

• Experience with the design and operation of Infiniband networks.

• Experience with the operation of High Performance Computing networks.

• Experience with OpenStack technologies such as SR-IOV, Contrail, NFV, and VNF.

• Experience with SD-WAN technologies.

• Working knowledge of foreign languages. German language experience valued.

• Customer facing experience.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

•Product Development

o Assist with the design and implementation of network architecture for HPC cloud solutions. o Design custom network solutions for our customers.

o Design encryption and security solutions that allow customers to connect to remote data center locations. o Develop and maintain network documentation.

• Network Operations

o Implementation and maintenance of monitoring and alerting to support the operation of production networks.

o Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.

o Develop and maintenance operational procedures that allow for the remote operation of networks using local hands and eyes support.

o Drive and support innovation throughout the network.

o Engage in support of customer requests using our ticketing system.

o Provide training support for our technical operations team.

o Must be willing to support off-hours to ensure production network uptime.

• Sales and Business Development Support

o Technical support during pre-sales and proposal generation.

o Technical support during contract negotiations.

o Strategic engagement with carriers to assist with the negotiation of key partnerships, new product arrangements, and terms and conditions.

o Assistance with the development of network marketing collateral in collaboration with our PR and marketing teams.

• Outside Sales Assistanceo Assist sales team as needed during outward sales meetings.

o Support company efforts at technical conferences.

• Technical Training o Sales team technical training and supporto Operational team training on network technologies, processes, and procedures.

• Data Analytics Support

o Collect and collate data from core and customer networks.

o Maintain reporting for Key Performance Indicators for Network Operations.
