We are looking for a Senior Support Engineer to join us in Leatherhead, Surrey to work on Space projects for a variety of major clients including European Space Agency, Inmarsat, ECMWF, Eumetsat and Airbus. This will include working on the prestigious European Galileo Navigation programme.

Your future duties and responsibilities: The role is to provide leadership, coordination and technical direction of onsite support for multiple client sites across Europe. Based in Leatherhead, Surrey in the UK, this role will require the candidate to be on client sites in Europe approximately 75% of the time and be responsive to project and client needs to travel at short notice.

As a Senior Support Engineer you will:
• Provide technical direction and guidance to the Support Team;
• Technically lead the installation and upgrade strategy of Software Releases;
• Coordinate with the Programme Design Authority;
• Provide onsite support to software and hardware releases, and investigations of issues arising.

• A proactive leader with hands on problem solving skills;
• A thorough and analytical approach to diagnose and resolve operational issues;
• Is self-confident, creative and possesses a "can-do" attitude;
• Effective communications skills with a range of stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in the implementation of Galileo, Europe's satellite navigation system. It is a high profile role which includes significant client and End Operator User liaison and interaction. Candidates should be technically competent and capable of quickly picking up new concepts as the system is large and complex. We work to high standards of quality, and to agreed timescales.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role: Experience of the following is essential:
• Developing strategy;
• Linux Admin (SUSE / Redhat);
• Windows Admin (Active Directory / Exchange Server / Server admin);
• Basic networking and firewalls;
• Oracle systems;
• Working with standards and formal procedures;
• Producing and maintaining documentation.

"On-the-Job" Training will be provided in CGI factory (Leatherhead, Surrey UK or Rotterdam NL offices), in addition to shadowing the existing support team members.

Experience of the Galileo KMF system is not mandatory.
Applicant must hold a valid UK or EU passport.
It would be beneficial if applicant hold a valid driving licence.

Starting salaries depend on the current level of expertise and experience. Our roles require Security Clearance to SC Level, so you must have lived and worked in the EU for the past 5 years, and be willing to obtain this level of clearance if you do not already have it.
