Vision Aid Overseas Vision Aid Overseas exists so that children in Africa who can't see can learn and get an education, and adults who can't see can earn to support their families and contribute to their communities. A staggering 640 million people worldwide can't see properly to learn and earn simply because they need glasses. 90% of the people affected live in developing countries, and yet, it can cost as little as GBP5 to provide an adult or child with a life changing eye test and a pair of prescription glasses. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), restoring sight is one of the most cost effective health interventions to reduce poverty. The Role The Fundraising Officer - Events, Research & Social Media, will be responsible for supporting and executing Vision Aid Overseas' fundraising and communications strategy, plan and activity. Reporting to the Senior Fundraising Officer, the Fundraising Officer will be responsible for developing and co-ordinating activity focused on income generation, activities such as UK and international fundraising challenge events, corporate and major donor research. Working with the Fundraising and Communications team, the Fundraising Officer will provide high level support and care to Vision Aid Overseas current and potential future donors and help with promoting support for Vision Aid Overseas via conventional and digital PR. In summary, the post will focus on supporting the Fundraising & Communications Team (F&CT) to raise funds from individuals, major donors, businesses and community supporters. The Person This role requires good inter-personal skills and that the post holder is hard working and motivated by the opportunity to help and make a difference to people in developing countries. The post holder will need excellent communications and IT skills, to be prepared to undertake a wide-variety of tasks and to feel comfortable and confident when representing the organisation to a variety of external audiences.
