You'll be required to support the children with daily tasks, assist them practically and support them emotionally, in order for them to lead a happy and comfortable life. Your duties as a waking-night support worker will be to ensure you are alert and ready to be respond to any requirements of the children during the night. Similarly you will be expected to report and handover duties to day time staff towards the end of your shift. As a waking night support worker you will be required to remain awake and alert throughout the shift; you will be accompanied by a sleep-in staff member who can be called upon for assistance in case of emergency. You will not be responsible for putting the children to sleep or for waking the children in the morning.

You will work closely with your team to ensure the upkeep of the high standards of the organisation in accordance with OFSTED requirements. You will ensure the home maintains a safe working environment and follow the organisations policies, procedures and codes of practice in order to ensure the safeguarding of the children at all times.
