Contextual Safeguarding Practitioner

PO2 - GBP35,961 - GBP36,912

Fixed Term 18 months

Hackney is London's most diverse and dynamic borough. Stretching from the edge of the City, to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, it is an area of rapid economic growth, particularly in the tech, media, fashion and other creative industries. We have some of the best schools and transport connections and are known around the world for our thriving cultural and tech sectors.

The Contextual Safeguarding Project, funded by the Department for Education Innovation Fund and delivered in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire will run over the next 18 months and we are now seeking two experienced social workers that will support the successful delivery of the project.

By joining the project team you will be part of transforming how we run children and families services in Hackney by applying a contextual safeguarding theory and framework to identify and intervene with vulnerable adolescents facing extra-familial risks, working with the wider context in which these safeguarding concerns arise. This will include developing and implementing interventions with peer groups, locality settings, schools, businesses and community organisations. Through these approaches we believe that we will be better able to promote the safety and well-being of young people living in the Borough, reduce the need for young people to be relocated away from their families and communities and develop better coordinated multi-agency responses to the needs of multiple young people.

We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic social workers who are able to think in innovate and new ways to work with service users. Practitioners will work as part of a multi-disciplinary unit to lead the implementation of a contextual safeguarding framework across Hackney's Children and Families Service and within the wider community. As a Social Worker you will work alongside colleagues across Children's and Families Service and the wider partnership to pilot evidenced based interventions working directly with young people and peer groups within their local communities, engaging parents and working with multi-agency partners to develop whole school and neighbourhood approaches to safeguarding vulnerable adolescents, and presenting and delivering training seminars and workshops.

You will champion contextual safeguarding across Hackney Children and Families Service, with new and existing multi-agency partners and the wider community and playing a key part sharing learning throughout the project to inspire, create and embed change for the future.
