Purpose of Role:

Business Analysts work closely with Project, Business and IT specialists, providing key analytical support that will allow business needs and requirements to be understood, challenged, documented, tested and delivered in order that technology, process and organisational change can be deployed and supported effectively.

Key Accountabilities

- Business process analysis in order to elicit, review, examine and challenge business processes and systems, model data, organize activities and develop business strategies.
- Business Process Modelling - manual processes to automated processes
- Work Flow definition & design
- Leverage business requirements to provide solution assessment and validation.
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
- Undertake the initial definition and documentation of business requirements to defined standards and using appropriate tools, to feed into the scoping and planning of discrete projects.
- Document detailed business and functional requirements using appropriate tools and techniques. Ensure these are agreed with all relevant areas.
- Proactively work with internal and external developers to ensure that business requirements are correctly translated into technical specifications.
- Investigate and produce feasibility reports on business ideas for change, including the completion of requirements, business case, solution options, recommendations, impact assessment and estimates. Ensure we make the right priority decisions for all work approved to the next stage.
- Complete analysis planning to support Project Planning, and successful completion of Project analysis phases to time and budget
- Define User Acceptance Test strategies and approach together with recommendations for coverage which ensure the successful completion of UAT which supports implementation and business need.
- Provide input to post-project review activities
- Provide analysis support, as required to business implementation activities

Desired Additional Experience

- Maintain an awareness of regulatory compliance responsibilities including Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Data Protection Act (DPA), Fraud Prevention, Complaints handling and Anti-Bribery.

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

- Minimum 5 years in a project environment, with demonstrable analysis experience
- Strong analytical skills including thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs.
- Experience of documenting "As Is" and "To Be" Processes
- Basic project management skills, ideally Agile but Prince2 is acceptable
- Awareness of the project life-cycles including business workflow analysis
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and workshop/meeting management/facilitation ability

- Ability to plan own activities, and also work as part of a team and contribute to overall planning activities.

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

- Experience of the financial services industry.
- Experience with Business Process Management solutions/implementations
- Good working understanding of the constraints and capabilities of computer systems.
- Has experience of formal techniques and supporting tools for requirements definition.
