Overall purpose of role

Assist Senior Analyst in all aspects of the role & research function (Equity, Macro, Credit or industry-specific). This would include
  • In-depth industry analysis of publicly-traded companies in the relevant sectors
  • Build and maintain detailed financial models and databases
  • R&D and therapeutic area research
  • Helping to write research reports and generate investment ideas
  • Make contributions to our research products and financial analysis
  • Support lead analyst in communicating with sales and investors

Key Accountabilities
  • Previous experience of working in Research or related area and team orientated tasks
  • Quantitative aptitude and qualitative reasoning???
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of constituents???
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills???

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Person Specification
  • A first-class or 2:1 finance or scientific degree from a top-ranked university or equivalent qualification or experience, with a biological-sciences-related higher degree preferred (MSc or PhD)
  • Prior experience / demonstrable ability in financial modeling, financial statements and company valuations strongly preferred
  • Financial qualification (e.g. part CFA) a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent Word and Excel skills
  • Team player, self starter, ability to work under pressure and juggle a busy and varied workload, ability to interact confidently with people at all levels
